Connect to your ancient intelligence.

We all have it deep within our cores, we know the right thing to do and how to do it.
Sometimes our big brains just get in the way. My favourite teacher Lynette from The Soul Factory
says whenever you are in your head too much, turn your feet on, get yourself grounded and out of your head, dance, sing, create... when we are out of our heads and in our feet we truly have a chance to glimpse our ancient intelligence and then we will know what to do. It's what we are all trying to achieve when we sit in Meditation. Get out of our mental bodies and connect to our spiritual selves.
Stop asking questions, sometimes you don't need answers you just to release.
If you have a pain, sometimes you just need to say I release you. Rather than work out why you have it.

Daily Emotional Stresses, Reiki, Butterflies, Nightmares and why being nice to your Parasympathetic Nervous System will improve your digestion, wellbeing and make your family Christmas easier to swallow.

Dr Ben Kim, A Chiropractor & Acupuncturist from Ontario, Canada. Writes “Frustration, anxiety, anger and tension all serve important purposes when they first arise. The danger is when we experience these emotions on a chronic basis.”

Often when explaining the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems we talk of fight/flight versus rest/digestion. And the situation we give to explain the sympathetic nervous system is about being attacked by a lion, tiger, or perhaps a herd of charging elephants. If and when that happens it’s great that our SNS works so well. But what about other stresses that provoke your SNS into action like the Daily Emotional Stresses that Dr Kim talks about.

Chronic low levels of emotional stress are harmful to your overall health because your SNS reacts to them in the same way as if you were being chased by a lion. Perhaps not to the same degree but your SNS increases it output whenever you feel, anxious, tense, frustrated, or angry.

If these emotions are part of your normal state, that is, most of the day, than your “normal” state is giving you indigestion, lower levels of immunity, butterflies and nightmares. And that’s just the simple stuff.

Working alongside your Sympathetic and Parasympathetic nervous systems is your Enteric Nervous system, Your “Gut Brain” It’s in charge of digestion from end to end.
The Gut Brain interacts with the head brain all the time so when the SNS is called to action, (Lion attack or low level anxiety), the Gut Brain reacts, and allsorts of wonderful survival stuff happens. . Stress hormones are released to produce the fight/flight response. Increased heart rate, blood flows away from the gut, digestion slows or stops completely, extra glucose is released into the blood and the diameter of your pupils increases. The many sensory nerves of the stomach flare with this chemical surge giving you that feeling of "butterflies”… probably not so evident to you when being chased by a lion but very strong when the stress of anxiety hits you.  
During sleep the Head brain and the Gut brain synchronise, both running at about 90 min cycles of slow muscle contractions punctuated by short bursts of REM or Rapid muscle movement. However when patients have stomach upsets or bowel issues they have abnormal REM sleep patterns. Lending weight to the folk wisdom that indigestion can lead to nightmares and taking stress to bed with us, means our SNS doesn’t turn off at all and the chance for rest and recovery is lost for another day.
So all in all nothing the SNS does is very good for digestion. Not really part of  its job description. That’s what the PNS is for. And while the SNS grabs most of the headlines what with running away from lions and the rush of Adrenaline pushing you on to sporting glory. We need to realise that the PNS is responsible for the rejuvenation and regeneration of all cell life in the body. It allows for the best performance of our digestive system. The PNS is also responsible for the efficient functioning of our auto immune system, the way we self heal. Our immunity to all disease is reliant on our PNS.
So how many moments in your day are stressfree? Maybe like most of us, you are a low level adrenaline junkie. Every fear, anxiety, worry and angry thought, you have from when you wake in the morning till bedtime keeps your sympathetic nervous system ticking over with disastrous consequences for your digestion and ultimately your wellbeing.
Theses Daily Emotional Stresses need to be managed, and where possible calmed at their source before they have a chance to reek havoc on your digestion and health. Reiki is one way to help.
Reiki works to pacify your SNS, putting your body in a deeply relaxed state, triggering the PNS and allowing your auto immune systems to restore balance on all levels. Reiki for Shin Splints

I came to see Adam for relief from my shin splints. Every time I have attempted to take up running / jogging I have been quickly forced to stop and rest for weeks at a time due to constant pain from shin splints. I have been told over and over by medical professionals that the only solution is rest from running. 
Reiki with Adam has been the first and only thing to give me any relief from my shin splint pain and was long lasting and very effective. During the first session the heat was extremely strong but in no way painful and afterwards left my legs feeling warm and cosy. I was able to maintain my running training between appointments with very little pain and after two follow up sessions I have no pain left at all. For the first time ever I was able to run the 14km City to Surf with no pain before, during or after. I highly recommend Adam's Reiki to anyone suffering from shin splints or similar sports injuries as the results were outstanding.

Soulshine Reiki has arrived in Mona Vale. I'm sitting in my room at A Fine Balance natural therapies and waiting for my first client. To date my Reiki has been in my own beautiful world my home studio,
I'm now very happy to take this challenge of bringing Reiki healing to Mona Vale.
It's about exposing myself to the world. It's time we all Exposed Ourselves.

Reiki Awareness Week 2011 June 5th

Hi all,

What a wonderful week I had. With the help of a lot of great friends I was able to give nearly 50 short Reiki sessions in all sorts of places. Some Butchers in their shop at Fairlight Gourmet Meats, Futsal Players at the Calabria Club, Travel Agents at Flight Centre Head office, Lawyers at Marques in the city, plus some mums to be at Mari's PreNatal Yoga  and mums already at Wendy's hosted morning tea.
It was a pleasure to get lots more people to have a reiki experience. Reiki isn't easy to explain and Like a lot of things in life makes a lot more sense once you've tried it. Now there's 50 more people who can spend time trying to explain it to your friends!!
Thank you all very much for all your support. and I hope to see you soon for some more reiki.
