When I arrived at Reiki the car that got me there was called control, or a lack of it. My daughter had been born 8 months before and I felt completely out of control, the sessions I had with Erica Bagshaw, (my Reiki teacher),. So when I received my first attunement the singular thought in my head was Control that was my focus, my reason for this learning and then in a flash I realized that what I actually needed was the opposite of control. I needed Trust. Of course it didn't come in a flash of enlightenment that took me to the word trust, but a slow process of trying to understand my attachment to control. And to understand what was so uncomfortable about being out of control. Control, says I'm responsible and I don't trust the natural course of the world. Gee that's a big call. It took me a long time to even get my head around the possibility of giving up control. It went to why I felt a need to control, old beliefs, and patterns from others about being responsible etc etc. The process of giving up control and learning to trust gave me lots of peace. I knew I had to learn more.
I believe that we try to control because of fear. That fear drives us to believe that we must be all over it, we have to make sure it happens and if we don't it just won't happen.
My process involved replacing the fear with that 5 letter word, Trust, everything will be ok. Now that doesn't mean being slack and not caring, but it does mean that do what you do and it will be ok.
My daughter, the driver of the control car that took me to my first reiki has been one of my greatest tests.
There is a huge sense of responsibility about being a parent, but we must strive to trust the process more and worry less. The more strident that I grasp onto a thing that I need done the more strident her opposition, as I loosen my grasp the task ahead is still achieved and my head doesn't hurt as much. And her teeth still get brushed.
So just for today, do this, Don't Worry, try to allow life to happen without you controlling it, try trust for a change and trust that all will be ok.

An Article that might be of interest about Reiki use.
Hi all,
I came across this article and found it interesting, (you might too), in the use of reiki with cancer patients.

5 precepts of Usui Reiki
Just for today...
do not anger
do not worry
be devoted to your work
be kind to others
and be filled with gratitude
do not worry
be devoted to your work
be kind to others
and be filled with gratitude
Every day, for just a few minutes
I sit in a quiet place and go through
these 5 precepts. And then during the
day with varied success I try to live
by them, just for that day.
These were written by Mikao Usui,
Reiki's founder.

Welcome to the Soulshine Reiki Blog
Hi and welcome to SoulshineReiki blog. Just wanted to let everyone know why they should come along and try some reiki. I know it's not the first thing that most people think of when they want to relax.
Reiki is ...relaxing, energizing, non invasive, peaceful, healing, clearing, recharging, balancing, uplifting, meditative, gentle, fully clothed, quiet, restful, complementary, and is great for sore backs, pains, stress, tiredness, worries, anxieties, new mums, new dads, mums to be, sports injuries, blokes, pre surgery, post surgery, a little you time, trauma, well being, nurturing, or just if you’re a bit fed up… and it just works.
I look forward to chatting with you more directly now that this blog is up and running.
Catch up with all the website stuff at www.soulshinereiki.com.au
